World of Warcraft Upgrades and Item Upgrading
Upgrades can boost the value of weapons, armors and rings. They also boost extra bonuses like PvE damage and crit chance.
If the template for upgrading a weapon is in %, the weapon will increase 3percent of its previous attack damage every time it is upgraded.
The cost of upgrading an item is determined by the item's level. The cost increases as the item's level increases.
Components
Upgrade components are items that can be put into weapons, armor, and trinkets in order to provide an additional stat boost or effect when they're used. They can be obtained through making crafts, buying from vendors, trading with other players or looting. Certain upgrades come with special cosmetic effects.
Upgrade components can be inserted into equipment that has a slot for them. The item must have been at the very least upgraded to blue level to allow a component to be used. Unlike other mods, upgrade components can only be used once; they cannot be applied repeatedly or replaced with new upgrades. Infusions and enrichments are a special kind of upgrade component that is used for non-amulet ascended and legendary equipment, as well as some of the items that are not ascending back. Infusions and enrichments can be retrieved by salvaging ascended gear or completing an elite task in the Prophecies, Factions and Nightfall campaigns.
An upgrade can be prefixed or a suffix, modifying the name of the equipment with which it is used (for example 'Canthan Armor Insignia is changed to Canthan Armor of Minor Vigor). Some upgrades boost the Mark Level or Rarity, allowing players create stronger versions of the equipment that require fewer Upgrade Crystals than are required to reach the same level of upgrade through normal methods.
A boost upgrade can alter the defense or attack attributes of a weapon or armor. After the player has completed the cutscene and defeated the Crazed Mechanist the upgrades can be crafted at the Portative Forging Station. They can also be dropped by enemies while upgrading other gear or by purchasing them in the cash shop for 500 upgrade crystals each.
The player is able to have a maximum of five boost upgrades at a time; each upgrade increases the chance that a higher-tier version of the item will appear at the time of the next reset. This gives players an incentive to upgrade their gear even when they're not sure how much it will be improved following the reset.
The process of upgrading an item can be costly and it's possible that the item will become obsolete, or even break, in the event that the upgrade is unsuccessful. Upgrade Crystals and assist powders are also destroyed when the upgrade fails. This is mitigated by the availability of cash shop items to increase or even eliminate the chance of failure, and a few upgrades that give a bonus when reinserted into an item.
Glyphs
Glyphs are upgrade components that can be placed in special sockets on the Paragon Board. Glyphs can boost the performance of nodes within a radius, and include any pre-existing affixes. Glyphs can be upgraded in numerous ways. We recommend upgrading them as fast as possible up to 15 levels.
In the final game you'll find that the best way to improve your equipment is to use Glyphs. They are the only upgrade component that can be upgraded directly to level 15 and offer significant boosts to your power and radius on the Paragon Board, enabling you to climb higher nodes more quickly.
Glyphs, the sole upgrade component which can be removed without restriction and replaced with no restrictions, are the most common. The only exception is legendary equipment, which requires the use of a Black Lion Salvage Kit to salvage and replace.
The value of each Glyph is displayed when you select it from your inventory. You can replace it with a different Glyph of the same rank, or a higher rank, which will boost the overall value of the glyph.
Glyphs can be found in the Black Lion Trading Post as part of the Gem Store bundle or purchase the glyphs with certain tools that allow unlimited use and also during Faction Crypt Raids. Each Faction Crypt can drop one of these Glyphs. There are also some rare glyphs that you can find in any of the Faction Crypts.
When you have the desired Glyphs then you have to attach them to your gear. Each Glyph will unlock a unique bonus that boosts a particular set of stat nodes that are within a radius of the Glyph. Based on the Glyph it could be +40 to one of your primary stats, or +25 to two of your secondary stats.
The use of a Glyph will boost all nodes that are connected to it, and you should try to place your Glyphs near the most important nodes of the Graph to maximise the impact. For example that a Druid should try to position their Glyphs close to their primary damage points, but also think about placing them near crucial damage nodes too.
Leveling
The upgrade system of items allows players to increase the effectiveness of certain items by inserting upgraded components. This is often referred to as "upping". Every upgradeable item is assigned a level that determines the final statistics. Upgraded items can be upgraded up to a maximum level of ilvl 385. Each level of an item requires a different amount of components and the costs for upgrading increase as the item gets upgraded.
Certain upgrades require a specific ingredient to activate. This ingredient can be obtained by finishing Upgrade Recipes. These recipes are available in the upgrade tab of a crafting table, or purchased from some NPCs. Each Upgrade Recipe completed will result in a certain amount of Technology points. These points can be used to upgrade the item, and once enough are earned, the upgrade can be claimed and the additional bonuses will be added to the item.
When an item is upgraded by a player it is replaced with a new item of the same kind. The same armor will be upgraded to an weapon or shield when upgraded. The new item also comes with its own set bonus. This could be a disadvantage, as the item can become more expensive even if you do not need it.
Upgrades to items can be rerolled, provided that the player has enough reroll tokens to do so. The item will be replaced with a brand new one that has a base of level 1 and totally different bonuses. gear improvement is useful for certain items, but it's not something that should be repeated often, as it can use up a lot of resources.
Certain upgrades can increase their value, allowing players to customize their equipment. An excellent example is Dolphin's Gift, which gives an increase in power when a player repeatedly enters and leaves the water (or does not swim as a dolphin). This can be upgraded several times, each time increasing the max roll by 10 points. This item is highly useful in PvP. A properly rolled version could be worth up to 50x the value of a unupgraded counterpart.
Requirements
The item upgrader allows players to raise the level of their equippable equipment (armor weapons, weapons trinkets, and weapons) above ilvl 385 by providing the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades to armor set pieces also increase its base defense and weapon upgrades items boost their base damage as well as their strength and dexterity.
Each item can be upgraded up to five times, with the exception for hero gear, which can be upgraded eight times. Each time you upgrade an item it has a chance to fail--the failure rate increases the more you go over the maximum number of upgrades. Failures will cause the item to return to its initial state which means that the player has to purchase more resources than if they had stopped upgrading after the maximum number.
If an item is not able to upgrade, the amount of accumulated experience in its growth bar is reset to zero. Additionally the item will lose any gained bonuses such as crit chance and attack damage, as well as any additional effects associated with that effect (for example, increased heal over time or the speed of reloading). However, the player can continue to use the weapon or armor after the failure.
When an item is upgraded, the upgrades are applied from lowest to highest. This means that when a weapon gains an increase in the chance of crit it will be applied prior to any increase in attack damage. A new attribute called Slots has been added to the item definition and the value is recomputed each time an upgrade is applied.
The amount of resources needed to upgrade an item are based on its rarity rating and the number of upgrade slots. The cost of upgrading non-premium equipment is equal to its base value. For example an item of common use could have five upgrades at a cost of. 25,600 Technology Points and a 4x Quality Improvement Chance--whereas hero quality items will have the lowest cost for each additional upgrade.
Premium items have different requirements for upgrading in comparison to standard equipment. For instance, they might require fewer sowels but more minerals and erons. The player will still need to take each piece of gear they wish to upgrade to NPC [Armor] Boboko located in Central Flarine. In addition to the upgrade costs mentioned above, each equipment upgrade requires the use of different upgrade ingredients.
